Lung disease in HK  (2003.03.26) 發送給朋友
Hi, there! I'm from Hong Kong and now I'm in Holland for 3 months vocation. I planned to back HK in April...but.....

I knew that 2 weeks ago the lung disease got spred-out in HK. Many people in HK wearing masks to minimize the chance of getting that disease. Some people get killed by this disease. Many schools stopped classes for 1 or 2 weeks, I have a friend work in the hospital, she doesn't have to work for about 2 weeks till now.

It's really not smart to back to HK at this moment, but my passport only allow me to stay here without a visa for max. of 90 days, and I have to back in April. so my bf phoned to the Dutch Immigration Department, see if they can let me stay longer here in Holland. However, that person said when your visa is expired, you have to go back, no matter what. My bf said to her, even if the disease can kill people and can be highly transmitted, you guys still send ppl back to the dangerous place? And she said......."Yes"!!! They said they only follow the goverment instruction or something...blablabla...till now, they know the disease in Asia, but didn't recommend to restrict ppl to travel to HK or China.

For me, I want to back to HK, I booked my tickets, I miss my friends and family there. But it's really not safe to get back to there at this moment. Everyday there's news in HK talking about how many ppl get that disease. I really don't understand why the Dutch Goverment not allow the travellers from other countries to stay a bit longer with the special case!!

Do anyone know other ways that I can get Help?

Thanks for spending time for reading this.

Regards,

She
